Historic Preservation

Built in 1904, this Quincy, Illinois home was preserved with original finishes while completing a 5,000-square-foot addition. The design and construction involved matching all additions and new elements to the home’s original federal design style. Throughout the process, much of the existing plasterwork and moldings were maintained and restored within the home.

The completed renovations and addition helped transform this historic home into a space that is functional for today’s modern family. The home now boasts 12,000 square feet of living space, a detached pool house and pool, and a 2,200-square-foot garage that doubles as a half basketball court arena. The addition included a new great room and kitchen space centrally located for the family to gather while also serving as an entertainment space for over 100 people. A first-floor master suite was also added.

Unforgettable details are incorporated throughout the home, including lighting control, a whole-home music system with speakers hidden in existing walls, a full wrap mural (floor to ceiling) of the interior of the Allen Fieldhouse in the gym, a faux slate roof by Davinci Roofscapes, and more.
