Project Summary: A 1953 Mid-Century Modern (MCM) residence in Olivette, Missouri, to have a full renovation and expansion to enhance livability while preserving its original architectural language.
Client Vision: The homeowners sought to maintain the home’s authentic MCM character while adding bedrooms, a larger living area, and a new in-law suite suited for multigenerational living.
Project Challenges: Creating new spaces that met contemporary needs without visually or structurally disrupting the mid-century aesthetic required exacting design sensitivity.
Solution: The additions were designed to be indistinguishable from the existing structure—matching proportions, materials, and detailing—to achieve a cohesive composition that honors the home’s 1950s origins while accommodating modern life.
